Chanel Addams
Dark ballerina grand jetés into new dreams and death's embrace

GENERAL

FULL NAME: Chanel Shelley Addams
NICKNAMES: Oh, not tolerated.
AGE/DOB: February 15, 2003
YEAR: Junior
BLOOD STATUS: Muggleborn
GENDER/PRONOUNS: Female; She/her
SEXUALITY: Please do look. Please don't touch.
Whether out of fear or because she's too busy, or probably both, Chanel's never had a real crush. She blithely says when pressed that she plans to get into a loveless marriage with an ancient but wealthy widower in a few years, and she means it.
HOMETOWN: Jefferson, TX

PHYSICAL

APPEARANCE: She certainly has one. Everything about Chanel projects a dark but beautiful image, and it's all very on purpose. Her posture is ramrod straight. She keeps her hair dyed even darker than it normally is, and either tied up in severe buns or let loose but pin-straight. Her eyeliner is dramatic and cat-eyed, and she never lets her skin show a blemish or a freckle. It's been rumored that she doesn't own any color at all in her closet, but that's not quite right. She has a dark red jacket in there, somewhere.

Even Chanel's clothing is sleek, precise, military. She likes confining jackets, vests, shorts and skirts only if they're short enough to show off her legs. She knows exactly what she likes and she's a nightmare to shop with. She inherited her mother's extensive taste, and also some of the carefully-curated designer clothing that Dalia has deemed herself not young enough for anymore. She can't afford most designer stuff on her own dime, but she's an expert at ebay and similar to keep herself properly adorned.

HEIGHT: 5'7"
BUILD: One percent too much dance muscle to be gangly
PB: Renata Toscano
INSPO:A Very Goth Pinboard

PERSONALITY

What would others say is their most prominent personality trait — what's the first thing people notice about them?
Chanel's a dark peacock at first glance. A sweep of black clothing, with her head held high, grinning down with a challenge that is liable to be dangerous. Clearly dramatic, which is the adjective most would assign her, and they're right. Chanel puts on a show just by standing in place, and adores any bit of attention she gets from it. Where the camp of the public is divided is whether that dramatic persona is intimidating or amusing. That largely depends on how close the observer is to Chanel. To many, she is able to give off a very good ice-queen impression. She doesn't easily open up to people she doesn't like or know. She's domineering, and always verbal about what she wants to happen. That turns some people off.

It all chips so easily, though. Chanel's not an icy person, inherently. She's legitimately bossy, but impassioned. To those who are able and interested in rhapsodizing with her about corpses, or whatever else, she's a bright and engaging light, all that black aside. She has a wicked sense of humor that's often meant to scandalize, but all in good fun. She doesn't actually like scaring people, but it's her easiest protective mechanism. Those who know her best know to wait it out. It's a lot, and she's a lot to deal with, but her bark's worse than her bite on the worst of days, and when she's reminded of that, she'll likely shut up.

How would this character describe themself? What do they think are their best and worst qualities?
Chanel would say she doesn't have any bad qualities and she dares you to argue. And then the corner of her mouth would go up, because she knows she's lying. So for real. The trait that's served Chanel best is her self-discipline, and she's proud of it. It's no surprise that her work ethic drove her straight to Thorntrail. Chanel is eager and enthusiastic when it comes to learning. She drives herself to the absolute edge if she has to in pursuit of her goals, both athletic and academic. That's clearly both a positive and negative trait, and a strung-out Chanel at 3am for the third night in a row would possibly admit that she needs to learn how to chill out. She's a perfectionist to a high degree, which isn't entirely surprising. When every little inch of her is so polished, it stands to reason that she's exhausted herself polishing. Chanel's also proud of her own pragmatism and ability to handle facts and conversations frankly and without exaggeration. She's realistic. Maybe funereally so. It's another double edged sword. She sometimes wishes she had more imagination and vision, but that all seems rather scary. She doesn't want to think too far into the future, when her circle of control is right in front of her, and so comforting. She doesn't like that spontaneity is hard for her. It makes her feel like a coward, when she's offered risky situations that she has to turn down because she hasn't planned it out first. She's constantly trying to weed that out of herself, but results are mixed.

Chanel, still, has an overall excellent sense of self-esteem. She was raised to think she was pretty special, and you know what? She agrees with that. It's helped her jump to grand aspirations that aren't all that realistic, even with her own sometimes cynical attitude without many second thoughts at all. Of course she can be a master ballerina And valedictorian. Just look at her 46 step plan to get there. Of course, as with all her traits, there's a nasty underbelly to this self-security, and that's vanity. Chanel is barely aware of this one, and certainly doesn't try to rein it in very often. But sometimes, she's vaguely aware that she should probably let other people talk about themselves as much as she talks about her own accomplishments. When she does, somewhat unfortunately, this attempt at self-improvement sometimes ends in her being even more bossy, which is another trait she's proud of in herself. And also not. She knows she can be domineering, but there are times when people need to be told what to do, and she's there for it.

What drives them to action? Doing good? Getting rich? Receiving praise?
Chanel’s pretty horny for success. As the old saying goes.

What that means is ever-changing. There are clear landmarks for some accomplishments, but they don’t necessarily drive Chanel. Attention from her peers is very important to her; wasn’t kidding about that vanity thing. She likes to be admired. She doesn’t want to be known, necessarily, by many people at all, but she likes eyes on her and likes being the one in the room to beat. It fuels her sense of competition, which drives her in close to everything. Strangely, she’s a little less concerned about conventional markers of success like grades and trophies. They matter, yes, but if she has to sacrifice a grade for something that matters more to her, even winning an argument from two weeks ago, she’ll gladly do that instead.

Chanel is similarly driven to action to fulfill her friends' and families desires, which she deems almost as important as her own. It bears pointing out that if she and a friend were going for the same goal, she'd of course be likely to be even more aggressive in getting it for herself, but. In some cases self sacrifice is acceptable. For her family she'll put down her dreams for theirs, every time. Especially Armani. She’s a fierce protector, and she’ll turn over the earth for them. The business will someday be very safe in her hands, because if it took going out to quietly murder people to maintain a standard of living, well. She wouldn’t not do it.

How ambitious are they? What are their short term and long term goals?

Oh, incredibly ambitious.
Her short term goals are this year winning the WizBowl, being in a summer ballet production, finally teaching the grade school class to curtsy correctly at the dance studio, get her twin a significant other (probably cryptid,) and graduating at least salutatorian.

Her long term goals include becoming a prima ballerina and also completely overhauling modern funerary sciences to incorporate magical and medical practices.

There’s such a thing as too ambitious, and Chanel could be that. She isn't the sort of person who accomplishments come to easily, but she is the type of person to bleed for their goals. She'll likely fall one day and realize that she should probably set more realistic standards for herself, but until that day comes, she's shooting for you, stars.

How social are they and, introvert or extrovert, what sorts of people do they gravitate toward?
Chanel is a decided extrovert. She's a surprisingly animated conversationalist; full of real-life horror stories and dark humor. She enjoys people's company, and most of all, their admiration. She's most comfortable with an audience or with banter,or around people who think her presence is improving their lives. So that usually means friends she can either go tête-à-tête with for hours without needing to go any deeper. Academic equals or rivals are welcome. She also embraces quieter, shy types whose lives she can take over and advise/"improve." She loves giving gifts (they're literally all taxidermy I'm so sorry,) and (sleek, dark) makeovers and talking about how much she likes the results. She's used to being the dominant one in her relationships, as she's been allowed to be the bossy twin since birth. She might not be interested in relationships of her own, but she sure will try to find people significant others.

When it comes to being open about her own feelings and friendships, Chanel's significantly more insular. This is once again largely born out of convenience. She's always had an attached best friend, and hasn't needed to expand outside her bubble. Chanel is very loyal to her friends, until the hypothetical point that a better friend, or even more especially, her family, was to oppose them. She has no problems dropping people if she thinks it's in the interest of the people she loves best. It doesn't come to that very often.

How do they Adapt (or Fail to Adapt) to change?
Chanel doesn’t much like change, and she copes with it by becoming a physical barrier against it; imposing and impossible. If she can do anything to stop a situation from changing, she'll do it. Of course, this doesn’t always hold. She tries to cope then by grasping every piece of the situation she can possibly control and hold it like a prize. No detail is too small, and no response too over-the-top. If a friend was leaving school, Chanel is the first one to get their new address and send them daily letters until they tell her to calm down. She’s already thought about her parents’ funeral and death arrangements, because she doesn’t want to be caught unprepared. She’s been lucky, in that there hasn’t been much figurative seismic activity in her life. Chanel has been protected, some would say spoiled, in a very supportive and nurturing environment. Her family nest is a warm one, and leaving it was a real hurdle for Chanel. Her response to that was maybe not necessarily healthy, but productive, and that's honestly enough to be working with.

Spontaneity is very hard for Chanel. She's the friend who will have a detailed itinerary of just a day trip, which is easy (and not inaccurate) to assume means she's just incredibly controlling in general, but she really is afraid of what would happen if she's caught without a plan. Letting go and letting someone else take control is almost impossible unless she really, really trusts them. In most situations, she is the self-spoken expert, whether or not this is actually true.

If they're Muggleborn, how have they adapted to life as a witch or wizard?
When Chanel learned she was a witch, she was immediately upset that no one had told her before. It seemed a personal slight, and that's how she's considered it from the time she was eleven years old. Which was to cover her own skepticism, mostly. She'd indulged Armani's pre-magic witch phase because she figured it was just that. A flight of fancy that he was really interested in at the moment, and Chanel would only ever encourage any of his interests with her whole heart. But she never believed in any of his tarot cards or crystals. Not for herself. When he showed signs of real magic, it took a little while for her to believe. When it became undeniable, she felt left behind, cheated by her own pragmatism. Then she got her own powers, and from the very first time she made a juice glass explode, she's been fighting to prove she's worthy of them.

Her approach to the magical world is less integrating herself, more staking her claim so violently that the casual conversationalist will just assume she's a pureblood with generations of wizarding knowledge. She wanted to "catch up" immediately, and filled her days with research about the wizarding world. It helped that her parents, especially her father, were very open and curious about their children's new lifestyle. It hurts, a little, to know that someone so open to magic as her father can never be truly welcomed into the society she's part of now, and can never replicate the things she can do. So she makes up for it by filling his head and home with magical ideas and items in a bid to give her family a little piece of the wizarding world. On the same note, she also keeps up with the Muggle world as voraciously as she can, and reads the news and social media whenever she's able. She remains as involved in her non-magical community as she ever was during breaks. She doesn't want to lose that side of the world, either. Who says she can't have both.
FUN FACTS:
🦇 ESTJ: The Executive
🦇 She has a collection of animals that she's stuffed and mounted, but the FUN ones are the ones she's made improvements to. She has a mouse with wings and a bird with three heads. She thinks she's very amusing.
🦇 Has been Wednesday Addams no less than 4 times for Halloween but FINAlly switched to Morticia last year and it was everything she wanted
🦇 Calls people my darling and similar and it's sure to be very annoying. It's also some of the only times she sounds like she might be from Texas.

SKILLS

LANGUAGES: Bilingual in English and Spanish. Her mother's from Mexico, so both languages were spoken in the home growing up. It's a little too common to be a secret twin language, but it'll do. She also knows a little French, but just ballet terms.
HOBBIES: Ballet, teaching ballet, taxidermy/preservation of small animals and bugs, makeup artistry, curating her instagram to be perfectly spooky, passing out cold glances, making study guides until the light of dawn for both her own use and Arithletes
SKILLS:
Ballet/Dance:: She's been training in dance since she was very small, and is muscular and lithe because of it. She keeps up at school on her own, with help from Cheerleading. Pre-Ilvermorny, she had entered ballet competitions, and even been in a few performances in Dallas. She loves dance, and hasn't quite accepted it's probably not a feasible dream anymore, what with all the time she's spending at school. She trains at a small studio in Jefferson, and helps by running some children's classes.

Taxidermy: This started when she wanted to preserve Armani's string of rats post-mortem so he wouldn't have to say goodbye all the way. She has a small collection of found rodents, birds and butterflies that she's preserved herself. Her first few were absolute nightmares, though. She will never kill an animal for purposes of preserving it, seriously. She is very good at stuffing, mounting, and re-posing creatures now. She's started to look into magical means of preservation and making her dead friends seem more lifelike, hence Alchemy.

Potions-making: She's not a genius by any means, and unlikely to become a professional Potioneer, but Chanel's good at following picky, detailed instructions and getting positive results. There's also never been an ick factor for her with such ingredients as slugs, and eyeballs. In fact, those are bonuses.

Makeup: On corpses and on people! Mostly on corpses. Or on people to look like a corpse; she and Armani used to practice their mortuary makeup skills on each other, and while it's not exactly a prom look, it makes a statement.

Math/Logic: It makes sense, and it sometimes mean Money, and she's pretty good at it. She's also okay at spreadsheets and organization because she has to for the family.

HISTORY

FAMILY:
Barnaby Addams. Father. Proprietor of Addamms Manor Mortuary. Mortician. Doll collector. Arthur Weasley only flipped.
Dalia Addams: Mother. Former aesthetician to the Stars, now mortuary makeup artist, cosmetic reconstructive specialist, & desairologist.
Armani Addams: Twin Light of her life. Etc.
Prada Marfa: Monkey paw made sentient. Gift to her father and now second brother.

BACKGROUND:
Dalia and Barnaby met while he was on a trip to Mexico City for Dia de los Muertos. He was being a respectful tourist up until he heard her name, and asked if she knew about the Black Dahlia murder. Luckily, she did. Luckily, she thought murder was interesting, and that this strange man was rather charming. And he was strange, objectively. Barnaby Addams was the overworked proprietor of the Addams Manor Mortuary, the sole funeral home in Jefferson, Texas. The family had embraced their surname since the popular TV show and really leaned into the creepy kitsch while still providing outstanding afterlife services. It had been in his family for at least three prior generations. Unfortunately, he was an only child, and was without the past family support he once had once he buried his own parents. This vacation was the first one he’d had in years.

Dalia, also objectively, had better things to be doing. She was a makeup artist, and worked for the stars of television and movie programs produced out of Mexico City. But that Black Dahlia line. Boy. It really worked. They talked all night about murders and dead bodies. She thought his job was intriguing, and he was very relieved. They dated long-distance for a little while, until the first time Dalia stepped foot in the mortuary. She came on a visit, and was less than impressed by its state. It wasn’t exactly run down or in danger of not passing government inspections; Barnaby wouldn’t let that happen. But there was paperwork piling up, and dust around. But Barnaby was on a thin thread, and Dalia decided something had to be done about it. She went back to school to become a licensed mortician. And they definitely got married. The business flourished once Dalia moved in. It became more polished. Still just as very welcoming of how creepy it was as it always had been. They lived in an attached home with Barnaby’s doll collection, and Dalia’s couture that she’d got from her previous, glitzy, life, and they were very happy. As the business stabilized, Dalia fell back into her former role as a makeup artist, only this time it was for the dead.

The funeral home they developed for their very own was a little darker than before, but much more chic. It fit squarely into Victorian-decor Jefferson. It was the whispered morbid mansion at the end of the lane, all stained glass and black paint and a luxurious lawn with weeping willows. A perfectly weird place to raise children. And sure enough.A few years into their marriage, Dalia and Barnaby began the circle of life all by themselves. They didn't die. They had twins. The first was a perfect boy, and the second, born mere minutes later, was their nightmare daughter who would forever try to compensate for those aforementioned minutes.

Chanel and Armani were named after brands of clothing their mother loved, and also Gothic authors. They had a happy childhood, playing Hide and Go Seek among the show room coffins and making slug hospitals/graveyards for when Chanel killed their patients. They were show children from the very start, dressed up in matching black from pretty much the time they could open their eyes. Chanel grew up soaking in all the attention her loving parents had to give her, and then demanding more. She was a highly energetic child who constantly ran around the funeral home and attached dark mansion. To help rein in her energy a little, her parents placed her in the local dance studio to learn ballet. She thrived. It was in ballet where Chanel first learned the comfort of a routine and discipline. Combined with the thrill of getting to show off at performances, this turned into an absolutely potent drug. Soon enough, she begged her parents to help her get to bigger stages, and they did. She worked with the ballet academy in Dallas, and participated in a few performances as she grew up. The soft feminine aesthetic of ballet was never quite Chanel's. She always had the darkest tutu in the room, and her stage makeup always was a little more dramatic than her colleagues. Even though of course all she got were bit parts in childrens' choruses (and like...that was mostly in the Nutcracker every year,) she dreamed and talked to whoever would listen about the day she would grow into the great tragic heroines whose pointe shoes she so craved to occupy. Her dream role was Odile in the Black Swan because of course it was.

Meanwhile, when she wasn't spending long hours being coached or shuttled by patient parents the two-hour trip to Dallas and back, she was enrolled in grade school, as most very normal children are. She and Armani stood out a little; they were generally more well dressed than the average third grader and everyone knew they came from the big black house/home of dead people. They were teased a decent amount for being Those Kids, yes. But Chanel always took that in stride and cultivated the morbid fascination of the equal amount of children who wanted to know what it was like in a funeral home, and wanted to see a dead body. And anyway, she always had a built in best friend in her twin brother, whose hip she was constantly attached to. So she was very happy.

When they were about eight, Armani began a new hobby that Chanel didn't quite understand, but thoroughly tried to support anyway. He got way into being a witch, with crystals, and "potions," and a lot of other things she didn't understand. Chanel, ever a pragmatist, didn't really ever believe in God or magic or anything supernatural. They were raised with a very realistic view of death and the afterlife; they had to be. She found comfort, really, that she and absolutely nobody or nothing else was in charge of her own well-being and destiny. The witch thing...was different. But she tried to help, in her own childish way. She dug up lots of worms and bugs for the potions that sometimes bubbled. Without heat. They thought at first that they had just stumbled into cool science reactions. But then one day when they were nine, Armani made his father's doll collection dance around. Chanel screamed, and denied it every day of her life after.

A MOO liaison came to their house and upon seeing the decor, asked if they were very sure the wizard thing was a surprise? (And they were. Chanel asked many times if they were sure the dolls weren't just NORMAL haunted.) She explained the wizarding world, and the fact that in a few years Armani would be getting an invitation to a wizard school. Chanel was skeptical. She had a thousand questions for the poor liaison, and even after she left, Chanel worked long and hard to prove this was a scam. But it wasn't. Doubt soon gave way to jealousy. Or not quite that. It was more a pang of bittersweet. She loved Armani and wanted him to do well, and she was so, so proud of him for tapping into some mystical forces she knew she'd never understand herself. But she saw it tearing them apart. If he went to this school, they'd be apart for the first time ever. She didn't think he'd survive without her. Or she without him. To prevent that, she did the only thing that she knew how to in this situation, and researched everything she could find about magic, and practiced excessively over the next eight months to try to become a witch herself. She had no idea how, and mostly got very frustrated while trying to move objects with her eyes. Armani helped, and they scoured the internet together trying to find Real Spells that would Work. They didn't.

And then, one day, Chanel, made extremely angry at breakfast when her sleeve went into the butter two minutes before she had to leave for school, exploded a juice glass with her eyes. She screamed again. She denied this time even more strongly. She was thrilled. She credit her accomplishment mostly to Armani, and to this day, no one can tell her it wasn't him who helped her reach her potential. The MOO liaisons never bothered to send out an official letter, but Chanel didn't need one. She knew what was going on. Her next year passed in blissful preparation. She and Armani were taken to Prada Marfa, a permanent and very stylish art installation in Marfa, TX, that was actually a doorway to a wizarding shopping location. It was thrilling. Their parents, particularly Barnaby, were extremely supportive, and extremely curious. He went along on every shopping excursion, buying possibly too many weird wizard trinkets for his children, and was very upset he couldn't keep many around the house without breaking laws. Chanel was impressed, but a little wary. She kept watching for signs that this was all fake. But somehow, it wasn't. She left for Ilvermorny with Armani when they were both eleven years old.

Another thing she'll deny to everyone else is the fact that she cried herself to sleep during her first night in Thunderbird. She'd been sorted into a different house than her twin, which was not supposed to happen. And also, she saw her meticulous plans for her future slipping out of her young fingers. She was eleven. She was supposed to be eligible for an apprenticeship position with a ballet corps in a few years. That was the only time she should've been pried away from her family. She was supposed to be a ballet prodigy, then when her prima ballerina career ended because of her age, she would take over the family mortuary. That all made sense to her. This didn't. For the first time in her life, Chanel was scared. She responded by tackling the wizarding world like a tackle guy at a football game. She spent her first years at school grappling at every fact and swallowing whole as many books as she could about the wizarding world. Deprived of practicing ballet for hours, she studied and practiced potions and charms. She was a voracious student, and soon enough, a very good one. She enjoyed her time at Ilvermorny, but it never felt quite right to be in a house that wasn't with Armani. So they tried again.

The twins made sure to research high schools very thoroughly. It wasn't as difficult as they thought it would be, balancing criteria like academically competitive, dance program, and hot cryptids. Gooseberry Alternative High School was a strong contender on their list. They had a forest god and a ballet studio, and was reserved for the best and brightest. Yes, please. Unfortunately, Gooseberry had some issues involving kidnapping right when they were getting ready to apply to high schools, so they decided on a firm no for that one. Luckily, there was an alternative. Sans dance studio, but Chanel could make sacrifices. They applied for Peckenpaugh and got in. This time, they were sure to get in the same house.

Chanel didn't cry on the first night of Peckenpaugh. She made herself the boss of it, or at least as many corners as she could, right away, and became involved most notably in the Arithletes and Cheer teams. And now it's her home. There's places for some of her hobbies, like taxidermy and looking into magical mortuary science. Not so much ballet. That one's a dying dream, though she's loathe to admit it, and in fact hasn't yet. She practices by herself wherever she can, and every break, goes back to Plie,Plie a little less strong in her skills, but a little smarter about the world she's adopted. She doesn't know how she feels about that tradeoff yet, but it's usually a very happy one.

MISCELLANEOUS

WAND: Ebony, Thestral hair, 10"
FAMILIAR: An adorable black and white budgie she's named Frankenstein. Frankie for short. She coos at him all day.
CAREER GOALS: She proclaims, and loudly, that she'd like to have a few years as a professional ballet dancer, knowing full well she's much more likely going to inherit the funeral home, be a mortician, and run dance classes in town in her spare time. She's happy enough with that too.

PART-TIME JOB: Nothing at school. She works at her parents' funeral home during breaks, with things specifically like cleaning and making purchases. She can't work ON the bodies yet, as she isn't licensed, but she can carry them. It's a good thing she has some guns. She helps out more with the administrative side of the business, which is partly because she has a head for numbers, but mostly because it's better to store her in an office. Chanel is explicitly Not allowed within 100 feet of any grieving families, a fact which she knows makes sense, but is bitter about anyway.
Also at home she works at Plie, Plie a small dance studio. She hasn't made more than two children cry.
CLASSES:
Charms: (H) No matter how far into the wizarding world she is now, charms are fascinating to Chanel. They're also the most obvious sign of competency as a wizard (a bang of light, a direct result,) so she's always poured a lot into this class to show off.
Potions (H): This is the area she's most professionally interested in, hence Alchemy. She's fascinated with the ways potions could be snuck in to the muggle world, especially with her parents' work. (Not that she WOULD of course...but like. She Could. Magical embalming fluid is a good idea.) She asks a lot of questions on the potions that most interest her, and is fully engaged otherwise.
Transfigurations: Close enough to charms to just lose her fascination and thus complete attention; she's pretty comfortable to skate with a B occasionally in this class.
Herbology: A necessary evil for all her potions; she doesn't love getting her hands dirty, and gained the ire of her Ilvermorny teacher by asking snidely why wizards didn't just invent Potions Whole Foods or something more impressive than growing them from dirt. She hasn't improved much since then.
Hermeticism (H): Chanel has a head for numbers and logic, and Hermeticism appeals to that. She takes great pride in every A she gets for the class. It's a lot of A's.
History of Magic: She's at least 11 years behind everyone in school, as far as her knowledge of the wizarding world, and she's been trying to catch up as quickly as possible. There's eons to learn, but she's a disturbingly eager study.
Symbology: Chanel's most interested in tapping magic for its practical properties, and there's plenty of those involved with learning glyphs. They're more subtle than potions, anyway, but they might have similar effects. Catch her trying to make a decay-slowing glyph for all her taxidermy projects.
Alchemy: Potions piqued her interest enough to where alchemy was inevitable. She's just as invested here, if not more so, since the stakes are higher. Chanel's a bright student, but by no means a prodigy. She doesn't exactly have world-changing potions ideas. She's here to soak up others' knowledge and replicate it herself.
EXTRA-CURRICULARS:
Cheer: Her audition in freshman year was identical to Missy's from Bring it On. She TOO transferred here (not from Los Angeles,) this school ALSO had no gymnastics dance team, this WAS a last resort.

But once she got past her own ego, she enjoyed cheer. She's too tall to be a flyer, but she has solid dance and tumbling moves, and she's strong enough to lift smaller people in the air. And once that spirit of competition kicks in, she does in fact yell.

Arithletes: (CLUB PRESIDENT) So that dumb spirit of competition gets kicked up for just about anything. Homework included. Homework especially, because this is school, but you get to brag about it. She's absolutely ruthless come quiz bowl time. It's the one week last year she wore a sweatshirt, and members of the team can expect mandated Hours. Long. study sessions with no breaks and no sustenance except for what is provided to them. She runs this like a particularly imposing drill sergeant. Her hand-to-button time is unrivaled She can recite facts about math and science especially, but also history and every corner of the encyclopedia. What I mean is she's a nightmare.

Performing Arts: Another necessary evil if she wants to dance, and she does. She doesn't want to be in choir, and mouths the words to songs, and she doesn't like just plays. But if there's a dance cameo in a musical, she's first to audition.

Appalachian History: She joined this club because of her compulsive need to become informed about their new world. Also, and more importantly, to map out the best places to set up her brother on blind dates with cryptids.

A.V. Club:She and Armani run the radio show Death by Design, a carefully researched and sometimes too gory deep dive into some of their favorite corpses.

SORTING?: Chanel knew that Armani would inevitably be most attracted to Mothgarden. She'd done research beforehand. She was all set to sacrifice herself into a house where she honestly and completely did not belong just so they could be together, but Armani was first in the alphabet, and so he got that opportunity before she did. Her path to him was at a brisk trot, with the only place she really stayed to answer anything thoroughly was the Autumn room. She felt a little badly that her twin had to go to a house where he might not feel as at home, but was also incredibly relieved that she didn't have to pretend to have an imagination.
